Bridal Assistant: What I Do

Now that you know how I have come to be a bridal assistant (see previous post), let me now explain what I do as a bridal assistant...

My main focus is to help out with any last minute details and odds & ends jobs that inevitably come up as the wedding day approaches, focusing on being there for the bride in any way possible on her actual wedding day.  I also am available in the planning stages of the wedding.
"Last Minute Details" Services:

Rehearsal/Rehearsal Dinner

Dealing with any "hiccups" so the bride won't even know about them
Setting up/ tearing down
Finishing last minute tasks for the wedding
Running last minute errands
Transporting items/people
Being in charge of the bride's phone
Answering questions for the bride
Any other tasks that would help out

Wedding Day

Dealing with any "hiccups" so the bride won't even know about them
Setting up/ tearing down
Making sure ceremony/reception sites are in order
Coordinating pre-ceremony, ceremony, and reception
Getting food and feeding bridal party
Having an emergency kit on site
Organizing "get ready" rooms
Making sure bridal party/family/friends follow timeline
Making sure everyone is at the right place, right time, with what they need
Helping the bride/bridesmaids get ready
Transporting items/people
Picking up flower arrangements
Working with caterer, musicians, etc.
Contacting/paying vendors
Taking pictures for bridal party with their personal cameras
Any other tasks that would help out

Really, the possibilities are endless.  Just ask, and I will do it!

Pre-Wedding Consultation and Services:
Beyond the rehearsal and wedding days, I am also offering myself for a free consultation to get to know you and your needs/wants. We will fill out a consultation sheet together, with you telling me how much or little you would like me involved.

I am also available the months, weeks, and days before the wedding for anything including: contacting possible vendors, dress/decoration shopping, putting favors together, etc.  Again, just tell me what you need and I will get it done!

I am currently compiling a vendor resource that you will be able to use to sort through and use to make contacts.

From PA to Bridal Assistant

"Sarah, will you be the PA for my wedding?"

"Sure, Erica! I will be your PA...wait, what is a PA?"

My college roommate went on to explain that "PA" is short for Personal Assistant.  I soon found out my role as a PA would be to take care of the Bride on her wedding day.  Erica assured me I was perfect for the job because I was so organized and a control freak!

The beautiful bride, Erica, with her PA

These were my initial thoughts... "Sure, Erica, just tell me that you did not have any room for another bridesmaid so you made up this position to squeeze me into your wedding!" and "So, while all our other friends get to buy a new dress, get pampered, and stand up with you during the wedding, I get to do all the dirty work?!"

Yes, I even helped her in this department!

I did get to do all the "dirty work"- and I loved it!  Looking back, I am so glad Erica asked me to be her PA.  She was exactly right- I loved organizing the wedding and letting out the control freak from within!  No, I wasn't a bridesmaid, but everyone was asking for MY help!  I enjoyed being a PA so much that I have decided to start my own business as a Bridal Assistant.

And, that is the very beginning- how this was all started.  I can't thank Erica enough for getting me started.  So, here I go from Personal Assistant to Bridal Assistant...I am here for YOU!  It's YOUR day, and I want it to go YOUR way.
